Parade Instructions

At the practice on Saturday, clear and exact instructions were given to all participants at the practice concerning the following questions:

Where do we drop off our boys?
Drive up 400 North to 900 East.  There will be a sign at that point indicating that corner is the DROP OFF location.  The boys will be instructed to walk directly south along 900 East to our staging area which is located between 300 North and Center Street. There, they will find  their Stake and Ward leaders.  We ask that the boys arrive no later than 8:00 a.m.

Where is the staging area for the parade?
Please find a map of the staging area here. As indicated, the staging area is located along 900 East between Center Street and 300 North.  Stake banners will be visible to each boy.  Find your Stake and Ward banner and gather there.  We ask that the boys arrive no later than 8:00 a.m.

What should each boy wear?
Wear your uniform and bring your decorated staff.  It might be well to have a bottle of water. The boys should wear shorts and a t-shirt under their uniform and any shoes that are comfortable.

Where do we pick our boys up after the parade?
All drivers of vehicles are to drive north on 400 North after dropping off their boys and make their way to the Costco parking lot where they can park during the parade.  Boys are to find their rides at that location following the parade.

What should the boys do with the uniforms and staffs following the parade?
The boys do NOT need to return either the staffs or uniforms.  They are theirs to do with as they please.

Will the boys be able to hear the music?
Our practice last Saturday helped us to know how to address this issue.  The sound truck will be located in the middle of the marchers with speakers pointed front and back.  It will be LOUD and those boys closest to the sound truck will be offered ear plugs if they desire them.

What else can we do to help make this a success

  • Please pray that it will be a memorable experience that will do exactly what President Chris Shepherd had envisioned when he said, This Army of Helaman March came about as a way to inspire youth, families, and our community to have faith and courage in choosing the right. It is the intent that each participant has a spiritual experience which will strengthen their life as well as the lives of their families and our community.”
  •  Please announce it to your congregations and talk it up with your youth at Mutual this week.  Discuss it in your quorums and classes.  Pray for its success
  • Be excited and enthusiastic concerning this wonderful event.
